Invenergy has broken ground on its 24.9MW Shoreham Solar Commons photovoltaic project in the US state of New York.
The US utility has started building the PV plant on a former golf course near Brookhaven in Long Island.
The project will be the second largest solar park in the state, according to Invenergy.
It will employ 175 workers during peak construction.
Invenergy, based in Chicago, operates 220MW of wind capacity in New York and is developing another 1165MW of wind and solar power projects across the state.
