Italian outfit TerniEnergia has won a $12.5m contract to build a 10MW solar plant in Tunisia for Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité et du Gaz.
The project will be the first utility-scale photovoltaic plant built in the North African country and is part of planned pipeline totalling 1GW.
The order includes engineering, procurement and construction, including the supply of PV modules and inverters.
Construction will start by the end of March and is scheduled to take one year, TerniEnergia said.
About 200 workers from local companies and suppliers will be involved during the build, it added.
