JA Solar Holdings is to supply Solar Capital and Black Enterprise Empowerment with 86MW of modules for the Orange solar project in South Africa.
JA Solar will deliver P310W multi-crystalline silicon units to the project, construction of which is scheduled to start in 2017. The project is expected to be completed in the same year.
The Orange project is part of the 4.5 phase of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program. Five rounds were initially planned but the 4.5 and 4.75 rounds were added to meet the high demand.
JA Solar president Jian Xie said: “We are honored to have won this round and are very proud to be the exclusive module supplier for this 86 MW project.”
