JA Solar Holdings is supplying modules to Malaysia’s first utility-scale solar project.
The 50MW facility is currently under construction in Sabah and is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
SPIC Energy Malaysia, a subsidiary of China’s State Power Investment Corp, is engineering, procurement and construction contractor on the project.
JA Solar said it is providing Percium mono modules, which are designed to operate in a hot and humid environment.
JA Solar vice president Cao Bo said: “We have invested $163m in our Penang, Malaysia manufacturing operation to produce poly and mono cells with the annual capacity of 1000MW.”
