Lightsource BP and Kajoni Energie have signed an agreement to jointly develop over 500MW of utility-scale solar projects in Germany.
The 500MW pipeline will be realised over the next two to three years, focusing on projects of at least 20MW in size.
Kajoni will identify sites of at least 20 hectares and procure all necessary rights to achieve ready-to-build status in close cooperation with Lightsource BP.
Once the projects begin construction, they will be wholly owned by Lightsource BP.
Lightsource BP’s head of business development Germany Stephan Jeznita said: “Kajoni is deeply rooted in Lower Saxony, a region with very high potential for solar power.
“We are ambitious in growing the German market, and local partners like Kajoni are an ideal addition to our own greenfield development operations across Germany.”
Kajoni managing director Manuel Stiller said: “We were looking for the right-fit partner to support our solar development activities.
“Lightsource BP is an established utility-scale solar developer and operator globally, providing not only capital but also know-how, and we are delighted to support them in reaching their build-out targets for Germany.”
Lightsource BP entered the German market in 2023 with a goal to become one of the leading project developers in Germany bringing 500MW of solar schemes to the grid each year.
