MPC Energy Solutions has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for solar project under development in Columbia.
The 9.5MW Parque Solar Los Girasoles will deliver around 23 gigawatt-hours of clean energy a year over a 12-year period, starting in the second quarter of 2022, to Grupo Renovatio, an energy trader and supplier.
The agreement is MPC Energy Solutions’ first PPA since its listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange’s Euronext Growth segment on 22 January 2021.
The agreement has been secured through Grupo Renovatio’s private renewable energy auction, the first in the region.
Construction of Parque Solar Los Girasoles is expected to start in the third quarter of 2021, with energy production expected to start in 2022.
The project is part of MPC’s 240MW solar portfolio, with five solar PV plants across three different regions within Colombia.
This agreement between MPC Energy Solutions and Grupo Renovatio is the first one of a series of collaborations that the companies are discussing in Colombia.
Parque Solar Los Girasoles is located in the region of Norte de Santander.
Recently MPC secured exclusivity for a portfolio of projects across the region.
