Biosar Australia has awarded Nexans six contracts to supply medium and low voltage direct current cables for four solar farm projects in the country.
Nexans will supply of medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) direct current (DC) cables for the Kiamal, Susan River, Childers, Oakey II, Nevertire and Middlemount solar farm projects.
The projects in the states of Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales will generate a total of 672MW, enough electricity to power over 600,000 homes.
They are being commissioned and Nexans says it is continuing to invest in ongoing cable testing and innovation to meet the requirements of Australia’s renewable energy projects.
Nexans Olex’s market manager for renewables Geoffrey Simpson said: “These major new solar farm contracts in Australia are a perfect example of how Nexans is helping to support the global energy transition.
“Whatever the renewable energy application, whatever the voltage, HV, MV or LV, we can offer specialized end-to-end cable solutions that ensure effective, efficient and reliable grid connections.”
The scope of supply covers Nexans’ full range of KEYLIOSÒ products including underground 33kV cables, underground 1,500V low voltage cables, photovoltai under-array cables, underground data cables, inverter to transformer connectors, communication, tracker control and associated accessories.
The power and control cabling is manufactured and supplied by Nexans China plant in Yanggu and Nexans Olex plant in Lilydale, Australia, supported by a range of Nexans Olex specialist manufacturer partners.
All the underground power cables incorporate the Nexans Olex EcoTerm™ solution that provides an effective barrier to degradation from termites.
