Enery has started construction of the 761MWp Ogrezeni hybrid project in Giurgiu County, Romania, combining photovoltaic generation with more than 1GWh of battery storage.
The company said the plant will have 534MW AC capacity and is expected to generate power for around 684000 households and avoid about 303000 tonnes of CO₂e a year.
It added that construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026 with energisation planned for summer 2027.
“With Ogrezeni, we are taking a major step forward in delivering large-scale renewables that create long-term value not only for our partners, but also for local communities and the Romanian energy system as a whole,” said Enery co-founders Richard König and Lukas Nemec.
“This project reflects our strategy of combining robust development and execution capabilities with deep local participation,” they added.
The development is supported by Enery’s partnership with the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, according to the company.
The project is backed by a €460m project finance loan agreement signed on 24 December 2025 with a syndicate of eight commercial banks coordinated by UniCredit.

“Through the Investment and Development Bank, Romania is a key participant in the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF),” added Alexandra Bocse of the Romanian Investment and Development Bank.
“Enery, co-founded only six years ago by Richard König, Lukas Nemec and RP Global, has grown its business in a truly remarkable way,” said Gerhard Matzinger, chief executive of RP Global.
During construction, around 350 people are expected to work on the project and generate additional demand for local services.
Operation and maintenance will use local resources via Enery’s in-house team and specialised Romanian providers.
“Ogrezeni is a flagship project for Romania – not only because of its scale, but because of the way it has been designed around local value creation,” said Liviu Gavrila, country manager Romania at Enery.
Enery has selected Enevo Group as main EPC contractor for the PV works and grid connection.
“Being selected by Enery to deliver Ogrezeni is a major milestone for us,” said Cristian Pîrvulescu, chief executive of Enevo Group.
Community engagement and biodiversity monitoring will accompany construction and operations.
Enery plans additional local community projects around Ogrezeni based on environmental and social priorities.
