First Solar and Southern California Edison have signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) totalling 500MW AC from four solar projects.
The PPAs are for power generated by projects in California, Nevada and Arizona, which are all currently under development by First Solar.
The projects are expected to be commissioned by the end of 2019.
The deals are for 150MW AC from the North Rosamond project and 100MW AC from the Willow Springs facility both in California, 100MW AC from the Sunshine Valley plant in Amargosa, Nevada, and 150MW AC from the Sun Streams project in Tonopah, Arizona.
The new deals bring to 2.2GW the total solar capacity SCE has under contract from projects developed and/or being built by First Solar.
First Solar vice president project development Brian Kunz said: “As an early off-taker, SCE was visionary in their inclusion of utility-scale solar in their energy mix.
“Their commitment to providing rate-payers with clean, affordable renewable energy continues with this set of agreements.”
