Vattenfall has generated the first electricity from the prototype 4.99MW Parc Cynog solar power project in Wales.
The Parc Cynog site in Carmarthenshire already includes 11 wind turbines, which have been in operation for 14 years.
The project is Vattenfall’s first large solar array.
The company said co-locating solar and wind makes “technical sense as the wind and the sun tend to generate clean power at different times”.
Vattenfall associate project manager for the Parc Cynog solar farm Daniel Wills said: “It has taken the installation team 11 days to install 18,860 solar panels on the site.”
