Solar Frontier has sold to Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy the 15MW Morelos del Sol photovoltaic solar project in Kern County, California.
The project is expected to be built with approximately 111,744 CIS modules mounted on single-axis trackers and is part of Solar Frontier’s 280MW US solar project development pipeline.
Construction on the Morelos del Sol project started in July and commercial operation is expected in late November.
The company currently has nine PV projects in various stages of development.
Solar Frontier Americas chief operating officer Charles Pimentel said: “Southern Company is a leader in renewable energy development and we are pleased a company of its stature is purchasing Solar Frontier’s project.”
