Solar has bagged a record haul in the UK’s Allocation Round 7a auction, with the government awarding 20-year CfDs to just under 5GW of capacity.
Projects totalling 4.9GW have cleared at £65.23 per megawatt-hour in 2024 prices for delivery years 2027-28 and 2028-29, according to results published by Energy Department DESNZ on Tuesday morning.
A total of 157 PV schemes have bagged deals in the Pot 1 tender, which cleared at 13% below the £75/MWh strike price cap.
The majority of the projects, 4.2GW, are in England. Some 330MW of Scottish PV sites and 327MW in Wales came through the round.
The largest single project is Island Green Power’s West Burton scheme in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, which secured CfDs for a total of almost 480MW of capacity, according to the AR7 results.
Among the other winners is RWE, which has bagged CfDs for the 50MW Brinsea, 30MW Honeyhall and 35MW Quarry projects.
Low Carbon has also been successful, landing support deals for the 33MW Grantham, 20MW Stowmarket and 6MW Tonbridge schemes.
