Saudi renewable energy company Desert Technologies and Italian outfit Enerray have connected the 23.1MW Falcon Ma’an solar plant to the grid in Jordan.
The project covers 500,000 square meters of land and will deliver 147m kWh of electricity a year.
It is jointly owned by Desert Technologies (25%), (Enerray 24%), Seci Energia (1%) and Catalyst Private Equity (50%).
The project was financed through the Seven Sisters renewable programme set up by the International Finance Corp together with other lenders.
The other donors include Dutch development bank FMO, the OPEC Fund for International Development, Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation, Europe Arab Bank and Arab Bank.
