Sonnedix and Statkraft have signed pay-as-produced power purchase agreements (PPAs) for a portfolio of solar projects in Italy.
Under the 10-year agreement Sonnedix will supply Statkraft with a combined 48 gigawatt-hours/year of solar electricity.
The portfolio, which consists of two solar plants with a total capacity of 34MW, has already begun construction in the region of Lazio, west-central Italy.
This transaction marks the second collaboration for Sonnedix and Statkraft in Italy and the third collaboration in Europe.
Last July, both companies signed PPAs for a solar portfolio in Italy with a total capacity of 22MW.
“Our growth in the Italian market is made feasible by the invaluable collaboration of partners, such as Statkraft, who share our vision for a brighter and sustainable future” said Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix.
“By expanding our operations, we can reinforce our role as a dependable renewable energy producer of green electricity for the communities we serve.”
Simon Kornek, VP South Europe Origination, at Statkraft, added: “Statkraft is delighted to continue its growth path as a major PPA provider in Italy and proud to be a reliable partner for Sonnedix.”
Sonnedix has been present in Italy since 2010 and currently has over 2GW of capacity in projects under operations, construction, and various development phases in the country.
