Samsung Renewable Energy and Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure have completed the $190m debt financing for the 50MW Southgate solar project in Western Ontario, Canada.
The solar facility will use solar panels and inverters made in Ontario and employ hundreds of local people for all aspects of the project.
The project will begin construction soon, with completion scheduled for late 2016.
Samsung vice president Steve Cho said: “Samsung is proud to be a part of the Southgate community and excited about our partnership with the township that will create local jobs.
“Samsung is dedicated to delivering meaningful economic benefits to communities where we are building clean, renewable energy projects.”
CC&L Infrastructure president Matt O’Brien said: “Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure is delighted to be making its fourth large solar investment with Samsung, increasing its portfolio of solar assets to approximately 350 megawatts and making it a leader in the rapidly growing North American solar industry.”
