sPower and the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) have started commercial operations at the 107MW Solverde 1 solar farm in California.
The project, which is located in Lancaster in northern LA County, consists of more than 330,000 solar modules. It had a peak construction crew of 250 plus workers, sPower said.
Electricity generated by Solverde 1 is being supplied to DWR under a power purchase agreement (PPA).
sPower senior vice president of commercial power marketing Jim Howell said: “The contract for difference structure of the Solverde 1 PPA lets DWR hedge against wholesale price fluctuations by locking in long-term, predictable and competitive power rates.”
