Trina Solar is partnering with GE Energy Financial Services on a 14MW DC solar farm on Miyagi prefecture in Japan.
Construction of the facility in Ishinomaki will start at the end of April. It is expected to reach commercial operation by June 2017.
Electricity generated will be sold to Tohoku Electric Power under a 20-year feed-in-tariff contract at the rate of ¥36 per kWh.
GE Energy Financial Services will hold an 85% equity interest in the project, which it acquired from Trina Solar under a membership interests purchase agreement.
Trina said both companies will make capital contributions to the project on a pro rata basis in accordance with their respective interests.
A management committee, consisting of two representatives of each company, will be established to manage the day-to-day business of the solar farm.
Trina Solar Japan Energy will develop the project and carry out engineering, procurement and construction management.
GE Energy Financial Services managing director and head of Asia Pacific Sushil Verma said: “Trina Solar is an experienced global developer and we are proud to work with them to bring this exciting project in Miyagi, Japan to fruition and to continue to expand our footprint in Asia.”
