Chinese company GCL System Integration Technology has opened a solar cell manufacturing plant in Vietnam in collaboration with local outfit Vina Cell.
GCL said the plant, which has capacity of 600MW, will develop solar cells for international markets, in particular the US and Europe.
The company said the cells have a 20.3% average efficiency, with an increase to 20.5% targeted for the end of the year.
GCL president Shu Hua said “Vietnam’s GCL high-performance production line, based on localized management, will provide strong support to the highly efficient supply of cells and help reduce costs, as well as rule out anti-dumping issues.”
