X-Elio has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google covering the output of the 128MW Bell solar plant, located in Texas, United States.
The array is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2025, which Google will use to support its operations in Texas.
The agreement will consist of a physical PPA, in which X-Elio, through a shared network, will facilitate the direct supply of energy to Google.
The Bell solar plant will also include a 100MW battery energy storage system.
In addition, X-Elio is already in talks with the community near the project to develop social actions as part of the community plan that the company implements in the regions where it operates.
Country manager of X-Elio in the US Kerri Neary said: “This agreement is an important milestone in X-ELIO’s strategy to develop and provide renewable energy for business supply.
“With more than 5GW in projects under development, including 1GW that is expected to begin construction by the end of 2024, the United States is consolidated as one of the key markets for X-Elio.”
X-ELIO chief commercial officer Mirko Molinari added: “This PPA between Google and X-Elio exemplifies our commitment to the sustainability needs of the organisations we support.
“We are honoured to collaborate with such prominent partners as Google and to be able to join our paths to create a greener and more sustainable future.”
Google’s global head of data center energy Amanda Peterson Corio said: “We are excited to be part of this new agreement with X-Elio, which will expand our carbon-free energy portfolio and supply clean energy to our Texas operations.
“This agreement is a clear example of how more efficient execution of PPAs through our new scalable procurement approach is transforming the way the industry sells and buys energy, and accelerates the development of carbon-free electricity.”
