Zelestra has secured a contract for a solar project of up to 108MW in Sicily in Italy’s second FER X auction.
The company said the scheme is the largest in its Italian portfolio.
Zelestra added that it recently won about 60MW across eight projects in the first FER X auction at the start of December.
The FER X mechanism supports Italy’s decarbonisation, energy security and supply chain competitiveness.
Zelestra said its projects will help strengthen Europe’s clean-tech ecosystem and support next-generation energy technologies.
Italy is one of the company’s fastest growing markets with more than 1.4GW of battery storage and solar projects in its portfolio.
Earlier this year Zelestra announced an initial offtake agreement for a 2GWh battery storage project in northern Italy.
“FER X is proving to be a powerful instrument to accelerate Italy’s clean energy transition and strengthen the country’s industrial competitiveness,” said Eliano Russo, Zelestra’s country manager in Italy.
“To deliver two successful auction results in the space of a fortnight is a credit to the hard work that the Zelestra team in Italy has been delivering for many years to have the projects fully developed and ready to submit,” added Russo.
