Envision Energy has secured a contract to supply 124 wind turbines for Kazakhstan’s 1GW Mirny project.
The Chinese manufacturer said it signed a letter of award during Kazakhstan Energy Week in Astana with project partners TotalEnergies, Samruk-Energo and KazMunayGas.
The scheme, being developed by Aktas Energy, is expected to produce about 4TWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the needs of more than one million households.
It will also feature a 300MW/600MWh battery energy storage system to support grid stability.
According to Envision, the project will help cut 3.5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year and support Kazakhstan’s target of reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.
The company said its first 6.5MW turbines are scheduled to arrive in the country in 2026, with construction beginning the same year.
Envision general manager for Asia and Africa John Lee said the project is “a landmark example of how innovation and cross-border collaboration can deliver clean, reliable and affordable energy at scale”.
