Ireland’s planning appeals authority has shot down proposals to build the up to 126MW Carrickaduff wind farm in Donegal.
An Bord Pleanala said Planree Ltd’s application for the 49-turbine project contained “deficiencies” in its environmental studies.
As a result, the planning authority said it could not be satisfied that the project would not have a “significant adverse impact” on local ecology.
Carrickaduff was filed under the state’s strategic infrastructure planning process and was based on turbines with 156.5 metre tip heights.
In its decision An Bord Pleanala also said that it was not refusing permission to the project on the basis of visual impact concerns.
