RES has sold an 86MW wind farm in western Sweden to European renewables investor Mirova.
The transaction includes an agreement for RES to build the Rodene wind farm under an engineering, procure and construction (EPC) contract.
Construction will start in August. Timing has been planned so as not to interrupt the breeding season of the local osprey bird population.
Energisation and handover of the project is planned for April 2022. RES will also manage the facility once it is operational for Mirova.
Rodene, situated near Alingsas in Vastra Gotaland, consists of 13 turbines.
RES worked with the community and local authorities during the development of facility which will sell its electricity to a large residential area located nearby.
It is the third project RES has sold to Mirova. The first transaction was for the Vasberget wind farm in 2015, followed by the Vardafjellet project in 2018.
Rodene is the first project in Sweden for Mirova-Eurofideme 4, a €600m energy transition fund that closed in November 2019.
The project has been purchased on a full equity basis.
RES Nordics chief executive Matilda Afzelius said: “We look forward to building and operating this project with our client Mirova in this part of the country where electricity demand is particularly high.
“It’s impressive to think that these 13 turbines will deliver the equivalent power demand of the local city of Alingsas.”
Mirova is an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers.
