Elements Green’s Great North Road Solar and Biodiversity Park has reached a key planning milestone following the close of its examination period on 28 April.
The 800MW solar project is located northwest of Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire.
Elements Green said the project could generate enough electricity to meet the needs of about 400,000 UK homes.
The six-month examination process included two rounds of hearings, site inspections and consideration of environmental issues including landscape and visual impact, construction effects and transport.
The Planning Inspectorate now has three months to prepare its report and recommendation to the Secretary of State.
A final decision on the application is expected in October 2026.
Elements Green said the project would include the planting of more than 60,000 trees, the creation of more than 800 acres of biodiversity areas and over 50km of new hedgerow.
The company added that the scheme would also introduce 22 permissive footpaths and six permissive bridleways.
Elements Green managing director John Hetherton said: “The close of the Examination marks an important step in a thorough process.
“We are grateful to all those who have contributed constructively throughout the Examination period, and we remain committed to keeping stakeholders informed as the project progresses.
“After years of careful planning and consultation to develop our proposals, we are now looking forward to the Secretary of State’s decision which we hope will enable us to start delivering the substation benefits of the project.”
Elements Green said the project will not move forward to delivery until a final decision has been made.
