GE Vernova has confirmed it has secured acreage at the Port of Nigg in north-east Scotland to marshall equipment for installation at SSE, Vargronn and Equinor’s 1.2GW Dogger Bank B and 1.2GW Dogger Bank C wind farms in the North Sea.
The relocation of onshore pre-assembly and storage operations by the US manufacturer, which has been using Able Seaton in north-east England as a base since turbine installation began at the 1.2GW Dogger Bank A in 2023, was first revealed late last year in a subscriber-only edition of reNEWS.
The company is expected to remain at the Cromarty Firth site until at least the end of 2027 when Dogger Bank C is currently slated for completion.
GE Vernova VP Wind Global Projects Justin Zerneri said: “We are pleased to have secured a site at the Port of Nigg as we continue to focus on completing these important projects.
“The Port of Nigg has the facilities and skilled resources needed to be able to support projects of this scale and scope. We thank our customers and the Port of Nigg for their collaboration in moving into this new location.”
