The company said it has formalised initial licence payments with the local authority to begin works across the Henar II, Henar III, Canteras IV and Canteras V wind farms.

Forestalia added that the developments in Tosos will account for 43.6% of the total planned capacity across the four wind farms in the Campo de Cariñena region.

The plans include two turbines at Henar II with 14.2MW and seven turbines at Henar III with 38.5MW, with a combined assigned capacity of 98.8MW across both sites.

At Canteras IV, the company will build four turbines with a capacity of 25.2MW, while Canteras V will include associated evacuation infrastructure for its 41.8MW capacity.

Forestalia said the four projects will total 27 turbines and 178.6MW across the wider Campo de Cariñena area.

The installation of the 13 turbines represents an investment of more than €70m and is expected to support local economic activity.

Ricardo Samper, director general of Forestalia, said: “The progress of these new wind projects forms part of our strategy to accelerate the energy transition and our contribution to a more sustainable, efficient and competitive electricity system.”

“These types of initiatives allow us to generate clean energy while also boosting social prosperity and economic activity in the region.”
