Flender has started operations at a new location in Brazil following its acquisition of Wärtsilä Brasil Ltda’s wind turbine and industrial gear service business.
The move expands Flender’s presence in South America and includes transfer of the service workshop in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, 35km south of Recife, Flender said.
The company said the step strengthens its local service capabilities and customer proximity in Brazil’s renewable and industrial sectors.
The site spans 5000 square metres and includes testing capabilities for wind turbine gear units of current power classes.
Flender said the acquisition builds on a partnership with Wärtsilä that began in 2018 and integrates the local service team into its operations.
“The establishment of our own location in Brazil is a logical step in advancing our service business in South America,” said Andreas Evertz, chief executive officer of Flender.
“It lays the foundation for long-term growth, further investments and even closer collaboration with our customers across the region.”
“With the opening of the location in Brazil, we are ready from day one to serve our customers locally,” said Antti Turunen, vice president wind service.
“Thanks to the long-standing cooperation with Wärtsilä as a service partner, we already have an established network, local expertise and a deep understanding of the Brazilian market.”
