TÜV NORD has reached a milestone in certifying Ming Yang Smart Energy Offshore’s MySE 18.5-260 offshore wind turbine with the issuance of an initial certificate.
The certification body said the cert confirms the stability of the 18.5MW turbine, which has a rotor diameter of 260 metres and is designed for the international market.
It added the certification forms part of the type approval process to support safe and reliable deployment of large-scale offshore turbines.
“With 18.5MW and a rotor diameter of 260 meters, the MySE 18.5-260 is one of the largest wind turbines on the market and we are proud to be involved in this ambitious project,” said Alexander Ohff, head of renewable energies at TÜV NORD.
“With our type certifications, we support the safe and reliable introduction of wind turbines worldwide.”
