Enviromena has secured planning approval from Rugby Borough Council for the 16MW Lutterworth Solar Farm in the UK.
The company said the project will generate enough electricity to power around 7,800 homes per year and avoid more than 4,300 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Enviromena added that the scheme will deliver around £2.5m in business rates over its lifespan while supporting jobs among local suppliers and contractors.
The solar farm will be a temporary development of up to 40 years with full decommissioning and site restoration secured by planning condition.
The company said the project has been designed to deliver biodiversity net gains, retaining existing trees and hedgerows and adding new native planting.
The development does not affect any public rights of way and does not require government subsidy.
Enviromena said the approval supports Rugby Borough Council’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with climate commitments.
“We are pleased that Rugby Borough Council’s planning committee has voted to approve Lutterworth Solar Farm,” said Mark Harding, chief development officer at Enviromena.
“This is an important step forward for a project that will make a real, measurable contribution to the UK’s clean energy supply and to the local communities surrounding the site.”
“We look forward to progressing the project and will continue to work closely with local stakeholders throughout construction and operation.”
“This project marks the second planning approval received by Enviromena in 2026 with further seven projects, totalling in excess of 200MW expected to go to planning committee throughout the summer.”
