wpd has won contracts for nine onshore wind projects in Germany with a combined capacity of around 300MW in the Federal Network Agency’s February tender round.
The company said it continues its successful growth course in Germany alongside progress in project development.
wpd added that additional permits for wind energy projects have been received in recent weeks, forming the basis for further growth.
Projects with a total capacity of almost 1GW are currently under construction in Germany.
The company said the strong project base and tender success indicate that 2026 will be a new record year.
The awards also provide a foundation to expand the company’s existing portfolio of 3,644MW.
“With this tender result, wpd once again secures a strong position in the German market and further expands its project portfolio,” said Dr. Hartmut Brösamle, managing director of wpd (pictured).
“The tender result once again confirms the high quality of our project pipeline as well as our competitiveness in the market.”
“At the same time, we are currently operating in an extremely challenging market environment: falling prices are offset by rising costs.”
“The grid package and the amendment to the EEG carry the risk of undesirable developments that could slow down the expansion of wind energy.”
“This makes it all the more important now to create reliable and investment-friendly framework conditions so that we can consistently pursue the expansion path we have embarked on and successfully shape the energy transition.”
