Iberdrola has reached around 400MW of installed renewable capacity in Italy after agreeing to acquire a 42MW solar plant in Lazio from CCE.
The company said the asset was commissioned less than six months ago and is supported by long-term power purchase agreements securing stable cash flows.
Iberdrola added the plant will form part of its Etruria Complex, which will reach 174MW with sites including Montalto di Castro, Tarquinia, Montefiascone, Limes 15, Limes 10 and Tuscania.
The project also complements the 243MW Fenix photovoltaic development, the largest in Italy to date.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and reinforces Iberdrola’s expansion strategy in markets with stable regulatory frameworks.
The company said the deal aligns with its 2025–2028 strategic plan, which includes up to €58 billion of investments, with €21 billion allocated to generation projects backed by long-term contracts.
