NESO has issued the first Gate 2 grid offer following last year’s connections reform process.
The GB system operator said the contract has been sent to a transmission-connected project in Scotland that was given “protected” status in the queue overhaul to retain an existing 2026-27 connection date.
“More offers will now follow in the days and weeks ahead,” NESO stated.
“This step is crucial in moving from planning the connections reform process to actively delivering a secure and affordable energy future for Great Britain.”
The organisation last week published an updated timetable for issuing Gate 2 offers after confirming in January that the process of delivering contracts to customers would run later than planned.
Offers for transmission-connected schemes with protected 2026-27 hook-up dates are due to be completed by mid-April, with paperwork for protected distribution-connected assets landing between early March and late May.
Regulator Ofgem warned earlier this month that 62% of the 340 projects with protections could be at risk of not retaining their existing connection dates, and has told NESO and the network companies to give their “best view of the most ambitious dates possible” in cases where the timetable is expected to change.
