Elgin has secured eight solar contracts totalling 382MW in the UK’s AR7 Contracts for Difference auction.
The independent power producer said the projects span North Devon, North Lanarkshire, North Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Somerset and the West Midlands.
The schemes form part of Elgin’s wider solar and storage portfolio across the UK, Ireland, Germany and Italy and are expected to be delivered in line with the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, according to the company.
Elgin said the projects will cut consumer bills, support decarbonisation and biodiversity goals and bolster domestic energy security once operational.
Dermot Kelleher, chief executive officer of Elgin, said: “Securing eight projects in AR7 is a strong endorsement of the quality and maturity of Elgin’s development pipeline, particularly in such a competitive allocation round.”
He added: “They will deliver new, long-term clean power to the UK system, support energy security and help move projects from development into delivery at pace.”
Elgin will now progress the contracted sites towards construction and long-term operation.
