The Morecambe and Mona offshore wind projects have entered into lease with The Crown Estate after three years of development.
The Crown Estate said both schemes were awarded in Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 in 2021 and have been in Agreements for Lease since 2023.
Together the projects will provide nearly 2GW of capacity, enough to power the equivalent of two million UK homes, it added.
The Crown Estate also confirmed it is working through arrangements for the Morgan project following the decision by JERA Nex bp and EnBW not to continue with its development.
Gus Jaspert, managing director for marine at The Crown Estate, said: “The leases for Mona and Morecambe demonstrate real momentum in the UK’s offshore wind sector.
“These projects will provide a significant boost to the nation’s clean power goals, generating homegrown renewable energy at scale while supporting thousands of jobs across the supply chain.”
Morecambe, with a nominal capacity of 480MW, is located about 30km off the Lancashire coast and will feature up to 35 fixed-bottom turbines.
It received its Development Consent Order for the generation assets in December 2025, and Copenhagen Offshore Partners is leading development and construction on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
The Crown Estate said it continues to work closely with the remaining Round 4 projects as they move through consenting.
