Mingyang Senior Vice President Chao Zhang has urged global markets including Europe to embrace “more open, dynamic industrial structures” if countries are to meet ambitious clean energy targets.
She said that offshore wind had reached “a turning point” with the pace of deployment varying across regions.
Zhang warned the challenge to ramping-up installation rates was not about technology or capital, but about “delivery capacity, scale, supply chain resilience and system efficiency”.
Zhang was speaking at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in remarks reported by Mingyang.
The OEM said it had proposed large-scale floating wind deployment, however, “innovative leadership” was now needed to “drive structural value chain changes” to broaden supply chain participation and bring down costs.
