Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has confirmed that there will be 3600MW of capacity up for grabs in the state’s upcoming offshore wind auction.
Grid connection for Round 3.3 projects is scheduled for 2030-2031, according to a draft framework for the auction was released today in Taipei.
The formal announcement of the auction is expected sometime in the first quarter of this year, according to the MOEA.
Projects will be assessed on contract fulfilment capabilities, with developer performance, financial capacity, and project execution capabilities used as evaluation criteria.
The ministry will also incorporate past performance and delivery track records of bidders.
The auction will also include incentive mechanisms such rewards for early completion such as an extended sales period.
The maximum capacity allocated to a single developer will be set at 1GW, according to the draft plan.
