Poland has launched its first ever competitive offshore wind auction today (17 December).
Up to 4GW of capacity in the Baltic Sea is on offer to developers which have until 1800 central European time to bid for two-sided Contracts for Difference at a maximum strike price of €115-€122 per megawatt-hour.

Previous projects tendered in Polish waters have received direct awards in a non-competitive procedure.
The country’s Energy Regulatory Office said the newly introduced support mechanism would be financed from fees charged by the transmission system operator.
At least three projects have been reported as likely to participate in the tender.
They are Equinor and Polenergeia’s Baltyk 1, PGE Baltica and Orsted’s Baltica 1 and Orlen’s Baltic East.
