RWE has appointed Sopna Sury as chief executive of its Renewables Europe & Australia subsidiary from 1 April 2026.
The company said incumbent Katja Wunschel will leave on 31 March 2026 to join the Management Board of Vonovia as chief development officer.
RWE added that the subsidiary bundles development, construction and operation of onshore wind, solar and battery storage across Europe and Australia.
Sury has been responsible for the hydrogen business on the RWE Generation executive board and Nikolaus Valerius will assume that remit alongside his existing responsibilities, according to the company.
RWE chief executive Markus Krebber said: “In Sopna Sury, we have an outstanding leader and excellent manager from our own ranks who will lead our onshore wind and PV business in Europe and Australia in the future. She knows RWE and the renewable energy business inside out and will successfully continue our growth strategy. “
He added that Wunschel has successfully driven the expansion of renewables at RWE in recent years and wished her success in her new role at Vonovia.
