GE Vernova has agreed to supply, install and commission 42 of its 6MW–158m turbines for Greenvolt Power’s Gurbanesti wind farm in Calarasi county in Romania.
The company said the contract follows an earlier announcement to deliver 42 turbines for the Ialomita wind farm, with the two projects set to produce about 500MW to support Romania’s renewable energy goals for 2030.
GE Vernova added that the Gurbanesti order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025 and turbine deliveries will begin in 2026.
The developer said the projects will increase Greenvolt’s wind capacity across Europe, support hundreds of full-time jobs during peak construction and generate electricity for more than 110,000 Romanian homes each year.
Gilan Sabatier, chief commercial officer for GE Vernova’s onshore wind business in international markets, said: “We are pleased to once again support Greenvolt as they work to bring online more renewable energy in Romania and across the globe.”
He added: “Paired with our earlier announcement about supporting a similar sized Romanian wind farm, today’s announcement reinforces the value our workhorse turbines can create for customers in Romania and across Europe.”
