VSB has commissioned the Eoliennes de Fadoumal wind farm in Arzenc-de-Randon.
The developer said six Enercon E82 turbines will supply more than 13,000 residents and avoid 8,400 tonnes of CO₂ a year.
Dr Felix Grolman, chief executive of VSB Group, said: “The commissioning of the Eoliennes de Fadoumal Wind Farm is an impressive demonstration of how well VSB France is positioned to deliver complex projects.”
He said: “As a Group, we are committed to investing in innovative and environmentally compatible projects.”
VSB said the project expands its presence in Occitanie to more than 50MW of capacity in operation for itself and third parties.
Managing director of VSB France Maël Lagarde said: “Building at this altitude is always a challenge.”
He said: “Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, we can minimise the impact on birdlife while contributing to a sustainable, decarbonised energy future.”
The company said the 1420-metre site required construction in cold and snowy conditions.
VSB added that all turbines use BIOSECO’s avifauna detection system, which identifies birds in real time and deploys optical deterrence or temporary shutdowns as needed.
Bernard Tribillac, construction project manager at VSB France, said: “The SDA system allows the operation of the wind turbines to be flexibly adapted to bird activity.”
