South Korea has begun consultations to prepare the country’s next offshore wind tender, according to the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment.
The ministry said it is currently working with the relevant permitting authorities on projects expected to participate in the offshore round, adding that the auction will proceed once these discussions are completed.
Alongside the offshore preparations, the ministry has opened the 2025 second-half onshore wind auction with around 230MW on offer.
The tender covers fixed-price power purchase contracts under which renewable generators sell output at a guaranteed rate for 20 years, the ministry said.
Bid submissions will be accepted from 17 November to 29 December, with results due in February 2026 following evaluation.
The ministry said the two-stage assessment process will include a first-round non-price evaluation covering industrial and economic impact, followed by a second-round quantitative review of bid prices.
It set a ceiling price of ₩163,846/MWh, reflecting global levelised cost of energy trends, previous onshore auction prices and the downward movement of cap levels.
