Xpansiv has acquired Evident Group to strengthen its position in global renewable energy markets.
The company said the deal combines Evident’s international renewable energy for electricity registry and other platforms with Xpansiv’s North American Renewables Registry and Tradable Instrument for Global Renewables Registry.
Xpansiv said the combined network will manage more than 300GW of capacity and involve over 4000 participating companies.
Xpansiv chief executive John Melby said: “Today’s announcement reflects the shared goals and close relationship we have developed with Evident as we work to build energy transition solutions at scale, centering on transparent, independent certification and robust infrastructure.”
He added: “It is also a milestone in our diversification strategy to build out our renewable energy and power markets portfolio to more fully support the global energy transition.”
Xpansiv said Evident will continue operating as an independent certification body under the governance of the I-TRACK Foundation, ensuring transparency and market integrity.
I-TRACK Foundation board chairman Dirk Van Evercooren said: “The I-TRACK Foundation is looking forward to continuing to support Evident, as an Accredited Code Manager under the I-TRACK Foundation’s International Attribute Tracking Standard, as it grows its impact, reach, and innovation across vital and trustworthy EAC markets.”
Xpansiv said the acquisition comes as global demand for renewable energy certificates rises sharply, driven by data centres, electric vehicles and other power users.
The company added that Evident issued more than 300 million I-REC(E)s by September 2025, up from 290 million in 2024, and has expanded from one market in 2015 to more than 60 countries.
Xpansiv chief strategy officer Nathan Rockliff said: “The acquisition of Evident, a premier global registry provider in the fast-growing renewable energy markets, underscores our strategy to expand our comprehensive platform through acquisitions and organic growth.”
Xpansiv said its renewable energy network also includes US compliance registries MIRECS, NC-RETS, NEPOOL and NYGATS, connected through its Xpansiv Connect portfolio management system and CBL spot exchange.
