R Power has launched construction of its 55MWp Lazuri Solar Park in Satu Mare County, Romania.
The project is being built by NOMAD Electric and was awarded a 15-year Contract for Difference by Romanian authorities.
R.Power said the plant will connect to the national grid via a new 110kV substation linked to the Vetiș–Abator transmission line.
The facility will generate about 70GWh a year, equivalent to consumption for more than 48000 households and reducing CO₂ emissions by nearly 17000 tonnes annually, according to the company.
Przemek Pieta, CEO and co-founder of R.Power, said: “The start of construction of the Lazuri solar farm highlights our commitment to expanding operations in Romania, which is one of our key markets. Alongside Lazuri, we are developing additional photovoltaic and energy storage (BESS) projects there, strengthening R.Power’s position as a leading energy producer in Europe”.
R.Power added that its growing portfolio in Romania supports the country’s decarbonisation and energy independence goals.
