The UK’s critical clean power auction Allocation Round 7 has slipped to the third of five timelines after developers appealed eligibility decisions.
At least one developer in both the AR7 offshore wind round and AR7a process for onshore technologies have lodged appeals against decisions to deem applications ineligible.
The story was first reported last week by subscriber-only reNEWS, which also revealed the efforts Energy Secretary Ed Miliband (pictured) and his officials are undertaking on the auction timeline in response.
The appeals mean the sealed bidding will take place 11-17 November and the results are not due to be published until 16-19 January, according to the official timetable.
Under the first two timelines, results would have been published before Christmas.
If there is a so-called Tier 2 non-qualifying review, the bidding window could be further pushed into 5-9 January and results to 25-26 February.
There are implications for some bidders if the auction runs into next year, as reported by reNEWS.
Developers are said to be frustrated that appeals have been lodged in the offshore round given part of the rationale for splitting the auctions was to avoid such instances that have held up previous auctions.
