SSE has completed turbine installation at its 17MW onshore wind farm project in Puglia, southern Italy.
Construction at the combined Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva sites began six months ago, with installation of all five Siemens Gamesa SG132-3.4MW turbines now finished on schedule.
SSE Renewables engineers have led the work in partnership with turbine supplier Siemens Gamesa and principal contractor Idoka Construzioni.
Around 70 construction roles have been supported at peak delivery, providing an economic boost to the Puglia region’s supply chain.
With installation complete, commissioning and testing are now under way ahead of full commercial operations in 2026.
“We’re delighted to have safely and successfully installed all five turbines at our combined Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva wind farm site in Puglia,” said Gianluca Mercurio, country manager for Italy at SSE Renewables.
“This is an exciting achievement for our team as it marks an important delivery milestone for our first construction project in Italy. We are now looking forward to working closely with our supply chain and contractor partners as we move forward and begin testing and commissioning the wind farm in the months ahead of its target completion in 2026.”
The project is being delivered by Parco Eolico Tramontana S.R.L., a wholly owned subsidiary of SSE Renewables’ parent company SSE plc.
