GRS has completed the 49MW/98MWh Glendevon stand-alone battery project in Scotland for investor Foresight.
The Spanish engineering and construction company said the installation is finished and pending energisation, with GRS also set to deliver operations and maintenance for at least the first two years.
Foresight made the investment through its flagship Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners fund. The project is expected to help manage peak demand, support grid regulation and contribute to the UK’s net-zero goals.
GRS has delivered engineering, design, construction and commissioning services drawing on the experience of parent group Gransolar, which has 126 plants in operation worldwide.
Global commercial director Christian Moeckel said storage is “the key to making renewables firm and competitive”.
Foresight partner Richard Thompson added: “The completion of the Glendevon battery project marks a key milestone in our commitment to support the UK’s transition to a net-zero energy system.”
