DHI and France Energies Marines have signed a strategic partnership to advance innovation in offshore wind energy.
The two organisations have agreed to work together on two main areas – research and innovation, and services.
The aim of the partnership is to help strengthen the competitiveness and environmental integration of the offshore wind industry.
“This partnership is based on our common purpose to support the green transition by converting research and innovation into solutions and knowledge that help solve bottlenecks and challenges in the offshore wind sector,” said Mikael Kamp Soerensen, executive vice president of energy and water resources at DHI.
“We see strong synergies in the expertise of DHI and France Energies Marines when it comes to marine biodiversity, metocean modelling and design conditions and I look forward to seeing our strategic partnership evolve through research projects and helping clients in the global offshore wind sector.”
Herveline Gaborieau, executive director of France Energies Marines, said: “Joining forces in the field of research and innovation is key to deliver adapted solutions to the offshore wind industry.”
The partners’ activities will include the interaction of wind farms and biodiversity, minimising environmental impacts and proposing mitigation solutions.
They will also assess the impact of turbulence, wakes and climate change on turbines’ design and power production.
In addition, the teams will deliver metocean modelling to reduce uncertainties in design under extreme conditions.
DHI and France Energies Marines said several concrete actions have already been initiated as part of the partnership and will result in new industry-driven proposals for joint projects.
