Flender has agreed to acquire Wärtsilä Brasil Ltda’s gears service business, strengthening its presence in South America with new wind and industrial service capabilities.
The acquisition, subject to Brazilian antitrust authority CADE’s approval by early 2026, will transfer Wärtsilä’s Cabo de Santo Agostinho service facility to Flender Brasil Ltda, a newly incorporated subsidiary.
The 5000m² site, opened in 2022, is the first in Latin America with wind gearbox testing capacity and will form the foundation of Flender’s expanded service operations in Brazil. Wärtsilä will continue to use the facility for its marine and energy businesses.
Flender chief executive Andreas Evertz said: “Flender has taken a strategic leap to expanding our service network with the addition of Flender Brasil Ltda. This pivotal milestone ensures our commitment to Flender’s industry leading customer service.”
Antti Turunen, VP Wind Service at Flender, added: “The acquisition of the Brazil facility will further expand our reach and enhance our ability to serve customers across the region.”
Until closing, Flender and Wärtsilä will remain separate companies with no changes for customers, suppliers, or staff.
