Vestas has appointed Felix Henseler (pictured) as chief technology and operations officer (CTOO), succeeding Anders Nielsen on 1 September 2025.
Nielsen will retire from day-to-day management at the end of the year after six years in the role, during which he led the Power Solutions segment and drove the industrialisation and standardisation of the company’s technology and manufacturing.
Henseler, most recently chief executive of ZF Wind Power, will join Vestas immediately and focus on ramping up both onshore and offshore manufacturing while strengthening the company’s wind energy solutions.
“Vestas is the leader in wind energy and having worked closely with Vestas for many years as a strategic partner, I’m extremely excited and motivated to take on the role as CTOO,” Henseler said.
“The energy industry is impacted by the geopolitical shifts we’re seeing across the globe, and our ability to become even more efficient, competitive and scalable will be decisive to ensure affordable, secure and sustainable energy.”
Nielsen said he was proud to hand over a profitable Power Solutions segment, citing the development of the V236-15.0MW offshore turbine, new onshore variants and industrialised manufacturing as key achievements.
Henrik Andersen, Vestas president and chief executive, said Henseler brought “a wealth of industrial experience and wind energy insights” to the role.
Vestas merged its technology and manufacturing organisations into Vestas Technology and Operations in Q3 2024 to increase industrialisation and strengthen its end-to-end delivery approach. Henseler will join the executive management team and report directly to Andersen.
