Police are investigating an incident of vandalism at the onshore substation for RWE’s under-construction 1GW Thor wind farm in the Danish North Sea.
A spokesperson for Central and West Jutland Police confirmed it had “received a report regarding vandalism” at the transformer station in Lemvig.
“We are investigating the incident and securing possible traces of perpetrators,” they stated, adding the matter is being taken “very seriously” due to its relation to critical infrastructure.
RWE told reNEWS it is supporting the response from Danish authorities but said it would not speculate on the matter.
A spokesperson for the developer said: “We can confirm that an incident took place at the construction site of Siemens Energy for the Thor onshore substation in Lemvig, Denmark.
“The Danish police have started an investigation, which we of course are fully supporting.
“Please understand that we are not speculating and are awaiting the outcome of this investigation.”
Offshore foundation installation (pictured) is at the halfway stage at the 72-turbine Thor, which is due online in 2027.
